About

Deboise is a multi-disciplinary workshop dedicated to conservation and restoration of well-made furniture and 20th c. decorative objects.

The 'atelier' was brought to life by Florence Perard in 2023, to assist individuals and interior design professionals who are looking to incorporate antiques into modern living interiors, and heritage buildings. We are able to handle projects involving both cabinetry and upholstery, working to detailed specs and time constraints.

Our dedication to conservation and restoration comes as a result of over ten years’ experience in a lively London antiques shop and workshop specialising in French antique furniture, carrying out finishes (beside sales and production support), surrounded by cabinet makers, furniture restorers and upholsterers. Our upholstery Quality Controller, however, has been into it from an early age ;) !

Qualified in Art, History of Art and Upholstery (Association of Master Upholsterers and Soft Furnishers), with years of practice in woodwork and furniture restoration, we offer a wide range of specialist skills, combining both technical knowledge and high sensitivity to textures, colours, shapes and proportions.

Each project is considered with in mind to retain objects' integrity, to preserve original patinas and characterful finishes when available.

Associate Ordinary Member of The British Antique Furniture Restorers' Association (BAFRA)

Pathway Member of The Institute of Conservation (ICON), member of ICON Furniture and Woodwork Group Committee

TESTIMONIALS

Christophe Payne, Fellow of the Society of Antiquaries, July 2026 : "I met Florence by chance just under two years ago whilst in conversation with her husband. The conversation developed quickly as he explained that his wife Florence was working in the world of antiques. After many years as a recognised face in antiques I have become increasingly interested in conservation - Conservation in it’s modern form with a capital “C", i.e. not restoration but a scientific approach to sympathetic work to maintain the integrity of the object but render it serviceable; an item ready to hand down to the next generation. Meeting Florence I was immediately struck by her understanding of this ethos and her enthusiasm to continue to learn the necessary skills. My first conversation with her was on aspects of upholstery and the techniques needed to preserve existing components as far as possible. As a young boy I watched the cabinetmakers in my grandfather’s and father’s workshops and was able to learn enough for a lifetime of curiosity about wood and its use. The family firm's upholstery workshop was a mysterious fascination, from the simplicity of a magnetised hammer to spit out sharp ‘Bayonet’ tacks, to the complexity of cutting expensive materials without waste. It is my opinion that Florence has a complete understanding of the skills and techniques needed across the field of paint surfaces, upholstery and woodwork and she is dedicated to bringing her skills to an even higher level. In our many subsequent meetings she has enthusiastically shown me how hard she is working, her diligence and perseverance winning her the confidence of her clients."

Sean Gorvy, July 2026 : "Florence is the consummate professional. She made herself available to review the items that required restoration, including mid-20th century chairs, tables and other furniture. She made suggestions as to how to approach each item, sensitive to their originality, sourced materials required for their renewal, provided detailed quotations, gave me regular updates while the work progressed, having completed the work she then gave me a detailed report on how to maintain the finishes she had applied and then checked in to make sure I was happy with the outcomes. Further, she was prepared to travel to site and handle security and privacy matters with my complete confidence. I would thoroughly recommend Deboise Restoration Atelier to anyone."

Kiki Glover, 2025 : "Working with Florence has been absolutely magical. I have never worked with an upholsterer before and was slightly nervous but Florence was so brilliant at guiding me through all the steps, including fabric matching and ordering samples. Everything with Florence is effortless and relaxed and after 2 weeks, she returned a pre-loved chair beautifully upholstered, looking and feeling totally brand new. I can’t wait to recommend her to others and to use her again for more!"
